About Me
Dr Linda Verbeek (CPsychol)
Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist
I have over 20 years of clinical experience working in private practice and in the NHS. I work with a wide range of mental health issues and have a specialist interest in Trauma, Body Image and Eating Disorders.
How I Work
I use an Integrative approach in my work, incorporating elements of CBT, Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Existential philosophies. This supports me in tailoring a sensitive and creative therapeutic approach for each individual.
The style of therapy I offer is relational and one that delivers warmth, real interest with compassion, and sufficient challenge to stimulate your mind. My aim is to work creatively and collaboratively with you to resolve emotional conflicts, insecurities and repetitive patterns. This will support you to work towards growth, healing and meeting your personal objectives.
Training and Experience
I am originally from South Africa where I completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology. During my training there I worked extensively with individuals suffering from Trauma and HIV/AIDS. After moving to the UK, I then commenced my postgraduate Doctoral training in Counselling Psychology and Integrative Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute in London.
I have also completed additional specialist training in working with trauma and bereavement; and completed the Master Practitioner Diploma in working with Eating Disorders and Obesity through the National Centre for Eating Disorders.
I currently work in private practice in Surrey seeing individuals for counselling and psychotherapy. I work with a broad range of problems, and have a specialist interest in working with trauma, eating disorders and body image problems.
Professional Registration
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and the Health and Care Professions Council.

Further Information
What is Counselling?
Counselling tends to be more problem-focused and usually focuses on a particular issue or life transition, such as bereavement or work stress. It is not my place to give you the answers, but we would work collaboratively to find a resolution.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is more focused on working therapeutically to make changes at a deeper level, such as the way individuals relate to themselves and to others. Many people engage in psychotherapy to discover more about themselves and to live life in a more rewarding way.
What can you expect in the first session?
We will have an initial consultation in which I like to hear an overview of your circumstances and therapeutic needs. This time also gives you the space to ask any questions you may have, and allows us to decide if we can work well together.
How often are the sessions and how long does therapy last?
Each session is 50-minutes long, and we will usually have a session once a week. However, in some circumstances sessions may be increased to twice a week, or decreased to once every fortnight There is no set duration for therapy sessions, and together we will discuss what would be most helpful to you.
Where do sessions take place?
I am currently offering online sessions via Zoom.
